The City encourages the citizens of Sumter to help keep these services, facilities and infrastructure at their best by providing feed back through the Service Request System.

PUBLIC FACILITIES & IMPROVEMENTS
The City of Sumter continues to identify and prioritize repairs and the new construction of City property throughout the City limits.
Hearing from the community is an assistance the City encourages. Please find the category you are currently experiences difficulties or may have suggestions and respond to our Service Request System.
- Street Paving
Include resurfacing of city streets that are not owned by the State of South Carolina.
- Drainage
Projects are designed to improve and clean the drainage system throughout the city.
- Waterlines
Projects are designed to improve and expand water system throughout the city.
- Recreation
To improve recreational facilities (Parks) throughout the city for children as well as adults especially in low-moderate income areas.
- Sidewalks
Include repairs and construction of sidewalks that are not owned by the State of South Carolina.

Youth Programs
Two Federal Award Wining Programs that assist qualified youth with employment
- Youth Corps - Ages 14 and 15 are hired to work in departments of the City
- Youth Co-Op - Ages 16 and above and in High School are hired by local businesses throughout the Sumter Community.

Art Program
To provide opportunities to youth in the NRSA and EZ areas to develop and improve their artistic skills at the Manning Avenue Free Art Studio.
Homeless Initiatives
To provide assistance through United Ministries to the low-income population in the City.

Loan Pool
The Downtown Sumter Board of Directors with the help of eight local banks, the City of Sumter, and Santee-Lynches Regional Council of Governments have developed a $2.5 million low-interest loan program to help spur economic development in Downtown Sumter. The Loan Program boundaries include: Calhoun Street south to Oakland Avenue and North Washington Street east to Harvin Street.
