The City of Sumter Aquatics Center is located adjacent to the South Hope Center at 1115 S. Lafayette Dr. Sumter, South Carolina. This center meets requirements for competition swim meets and equipped with swim lanes, slide, and wade-pool entrance with fountain.

LIFEGUARD TRAINING – APRIL 17, 2012 THROUGH SEPTEMBER 21, 2012
Classes are two weeks (20 hours total). Classes are Tuesday-Friday from 4:00-6:00pm.
The City of Sumter Aquatics Center will offer a lifeguard class for individuals 15 years and older. Students must have good swimming skills including knowledge of front crawl and breast stroke. Learning the proper techniques for making water rescues, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED training, and First Aid are all a part of this class. After successful completion of this course you will be certified in American Red Cross Lifeguarding. Cost: $100 per person.

COMMUNITY SWIM LESSONS – MAY 15, 2012 THROUGH JUNE 1, 2012
Tuesday-Friday from 4:15-5:00pm or 5:00-5:45pm.
Three weeks of FREE swim classes will be offered for ages 6 to adult. Students must sign up for swim lessons the Friday before each weekly session begins. This class is for beginner swimmers only. Students will learn basic swim skills along with basic rescue techniques.
SPLASH DAY – JUNE 2, 2012
Time: TBA
Featuring Red Cross “Waddles”, Sumter Fire Department, and SAFE Kids. There will be prize drawings for swim passes, swim gear, lessons and much more! There will be water and boating demos as well as program sign-up for Swim Team, Guard Start and Lifeguard Training. Bring your suit and join in the fun!
SPLASH-IN MOVIES – JUNE 3, 2012 THROUGH AUGUST 12, 2012
Sunday evenings from 9-11pm.
Featuring a different movie playing each Sunday night during the summer. Cool off during the hot summer evenings while watching your favorite movie. Admission is only $2.00 for 12 and under and $3.00 for 13 and older.

LEARN TO SWIM – JUNE 5, 2012 THROUGH OCTOBER 20, 2012
Tuesday-Friday from 5:15-6:00pm. The parent/tot classes are from 5:00-5:30pm.
The city of Sumter Aquatics Center offers swim lessons for ages 3 and up and a parent/tot (6mo.-3 yrs) class. Students will learn swim strokes and rescue techniques appropriate for their skill level, as well as general pool safety. All classes are taught by certified ARC instructors. Cost for one week: $25. Cost for two weeks: $40. Saturday classes are available upon request at $7.00 per class.
GUARD START – JUNE 5, 2012 THROUGH OCTOBER 20, 2012
Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:00am-1:00pm.
Classes are ongoing throughout the summer! The city of Sumter Aquatics Center will offer a Guard Start Lifeguarding Tomorrow class for individuals’ ages 11 years-14 years. Students must have good swimming skills including knowledge of front crawl. In this class your objectives will include prevention, fitness, response, leadership and professionalism. This program will provide a foundation of aquatic and leadership knowledge, as well as skills for future successful completion of the Red Cross Lifeguard Training Course. You will have the opportunity to improve your skills by volunteering at the City of Sumter Aquatics Center. A swim test is required. Cost: $35 per person.

SWIM TEAM – 2012 DATES TBA
The swim team will be eligible to compete in official USA Swim South Carolina meets as well as participate in local community events. Swimmers will advance from developmental (beginners) to advance levels of competition. The swim team uses a team concept that will emphasize safety, fun, fitness, and friendship for the entire family. The team will be supervised by A.R.C. certified lifeguards and USA Swim certified coaches. Cost is $5.00 weekly or $20 per month. WATER EXERCISE CLASSES - 2012 DATES TBA
Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 6:15-7:00pm you can enjoy aerobic water exercises using noodles and bar bells and other unique resistive equipment. $5 per person, per class.
